A View to Inner-Peace – The Pause Between Thoughts.

For lack of anything better to write about at this moment,

I thought I would do something fairly short on Inner-Peace and the momentary silence between events, ideas, thoughts, and so on. This post came as an idea after I was talking with a friend of mine about Dreams and how we sometimes interfere with our own abilities to receive them: By “trying” too hard.

One of the very first lessons I learned when I was attending a meditation group was to RELAX, and calm the mind and body. Just so happened that the group I was with was organized and lead by a (long-time) Buddhist student. One of the simplest exercises, though not so easy to do by the many, was to not concentrate on anything but your breathing. Every thought, every sound, every feeling – was to be acknowledged – and then your attention returned to your breathing. The whole idea was to eventually find the absolute emptiness and inner peace within your Being.

One of the things I understood about some of the later experiences with meditation(s) in another group, was to not “concentrate” too hard toward anything, but let the images and feelings come to you. This works very much like when in the presence of an unfamiliar animal (and even its spirit): You do not approach it, but let it, on its own volition, approach you – while you maintain a fairly relaxed composure. Many times, some of life’s more-challenging experiences may require this approach in order for one to find the solution that best fits the problem.

The world of magic, healing, and many of the other “meta-physical” aspects of life may require a more-subtle approach than we are used to being told to do. This is where “society” often fails us, miserably, when it comes to practical ways to find and employ solutions to the many complex problems we may face, day to day. So, I advised this friend of mine about the less-common path of least resistance, by suggesting he not try too hard to force his Mind to come with the answers, but relax and let his Mind do what it does best: Imagine and picture the solution into being. Then, he is free to try the solution and see if it fits the problem at hand.

It is also just as practical that when one is faced with an “insurmountable” problem (as some would say: an “impasse”), be not afraid to stand back a few moments and take a pause. Sometimes, it is that moment of silence we need to pay attention to. Oftentimes, it is within that “moment of silence” when we will hear the quiet voice of Wisdom speaking to us. So, there IS great power in that moment of silence.

– Please find your moment of silence, and the resulting Inner-Peace today!

Rethinking Cause-and-Effect – How the “Web of Life” fits in.

I have been doing some further thinking, based on what I read in Michael Talbot’s “The Holographic Universe”.

Some interesting images and thoughts came to me that also related to when I was reading the “Kybalion” by the Three Initiates. It had to do with the Hermetic Principle on Cause and Effect. Some ascribe this to being the “Karmic Laws”, even though there is some misinterpretation of Karma in many of today’s groups. I would like to provide a little bit of a different insight into the nature of Cause and Effect.

I ) Causes and their Effects do interrelate with each other and CAN also operate in the reverse:

In other words, there are cases where the Cause(s) and Effect(s) can affect each other in the reverse order, IE: A cause in one instance can become the effect of the action of the other, which was its effect and, instead, become its causor. This can be considered as a “mirroring” of the Cause-and-Effect instance(s), as the cause(s) and effect(s) may “change places” with each other based on the particular situation or “need”.

II ) Causes and Effects are not necessarily singular and purely linear:

Each “cause” can possibly have multiple influences or multiple “effects”. Just as each “effect” can have multiple contributing “causes”. Much like any action on a spider’s web, can be felt, whether greatly or slightly, in more than one place upon its web – even, at the same instant. Anyone with a background in mathematics would be amazed at how “irrational” Nature can be. Nature works very heavily with irrational numbers and ratios; Which show up in the many calculations of arcs, spirals, and other circular “events”.

III ) Also, Nature likes circles, spirals, and “non-linearity”. Therefore, causes and effects can easily rebound and cycle; as per the first two observations I stated above:

What this says, is that certain conditions may have it that one or more causes may feed into themselves through their one or more effects. I like to think of this as a “feedback loop”; something that the nature of spirals and cycles often work by. Now whether a particular “spiral” results in an increase or decrease in strength and energy is another matter. If such a “feedback” results in the same level of energy and strength being repeated over and over again, then you may have what results in a steady cycle – of this set of causes and effects!

IV ) Causes and their resulting effects that feedback upon each other can also cause “ripple effects”:

The analogy and actual demonstration of tossing a stone into a quiet, placid body of water (whether at a pond, or just a home swimming pool) and its resulting ripples comes to mind. Now, if one were to toss more than one stone, perhaps even at slightly delayed intervals, one would see the action of the ripples from each of the landed stones (the “causes” or “events”) as they collide with each other. These colliding ripples may either cancel some of their energies out, OR they may create some interesting new ripples. These collision points can be referred to as “interference points”.

V ) Interference points as resulting complex events due to multiple influences and/or other contributing causes and/or effects:

When two or more event “ripples” collide, a new event may occur at that point. Some believe that major events of such great magnitude and power are only possible with the help of multiple contributing causes and effects, because of the amount of energy contributed multiplies exponentially. So, if there are more powerful influences that contribute even a tiny amount of additional energy towards the “intended” effect, the end effect’s energy will be far greater by magnitudes! (This is something to think about when planning the execution of another magical working, etc.)

This also why a small group of fairly new practitioners may see considerable effects, if they are all focused on the same intention, to their working more so than one solitary who may only practice his/her art occasionally. This may also explain why some workings may be best done in a group ritual, rather than as a solitary if that solitary witch does not have much extensive practice in workings by him/herself?!?

VI ) Nature is all about causes and effects:

Right there is the ultimate truth about the power and workings of Nature. We see these causes and their related effects around us all the time. All things that occur are because of Nature’s causes and effects; This highlights the “Natural Law” at its most basic level. Natural Law does not operate on only one or two “planes” at a time. Nature is very “Holographic” and operates on ALL planes at the same time. Therefore, some of the most powerful workings, coming from some of the most learned in the Arts of magic and Nature, know to use the powers of Nature to their advantage and to “super-power” their workings.

Those who try to work against the powers of Nature, are simply working out of balance with Nature and will probably fail miserably. Nature is far more powerful than any of us alone! Therefore, it makes the most sense to work alongside that Natural power, and in balance with Nature, when deciding to do a working. The ancient shamanic wise-folk knew of this many thousands of years ago.

A final note:

As per what I have written here, please consider carefully the idea of limiting the effects of your spells. If some spells can continue on by themselves, all due to the right kinds of influences and energies being present to keep powering them, you may have a difficult time in determining where and how to end an errant spell. THIS IS WHY, in some groups, it said that once an intention is powered up and released into the open Cosmos, it can not (I like to say: “may not”) be recalled! So please consider how to “tie up” a spell enough so that it only does what it is intended to do, and then dissipate or cease altogether.

The Warning from The Great Red Dragon.

This was a Prophecy, as given to me, by the Divine Prominence of the Great Red Dragon of the Ancients.

An image that kept repeating itself to me lately.

I had learned a bit more from a Hopi Prophecy that predates anything related to Christianity, Catholicism, and any of the other Abrahamic religions, lately. It was interesting and intriguing how the legend and myth bore so many similarities (symbolically) to many of the “prophecies” one can read from the Bible’s “Book of Revelation”, and other works. It also reminded me of the Norse Mythology of the “Time of Fire and Ice” in the lead up to Ragnarok. I also had some memories of what I read from the Rig Veda concerning Vrtra (their name for the Red Serpent or Dragon).

In virtually all of these stories,

There was mentioned the “End of the Age(s)”, or in the current interpretation of the Biblical Revelation, The End of the World”. I speak to this as someone who first learned about evolution, mass-extinctions, and the constant changes our Earth undergoes, long before ever being exposed to the spiritual traditions and mysteries of the various earthly religions. Though I have probably forgotten far more than I could possibly realize, much of it is starting to come back to me in the form of connective dreams, images, and “feelings” (I AM an empath, after all).

So, let’s start off with a few “data points” so that we can get a better grasp of where I am going with this post.

In understanding that nothing in the Universe, let alone our little world, remains as constant or in any fashion of “sameness”, it comes as no surprise to the observant as well as astute occult student and theologians that our past ancestors were apparently very well aware of the changes and the rough-guestimate time periods of these changes. They noticed the great and small cycles as evidenced in Nature, here on Earth, and in the Heavens above. Many of the ancient structures that were unearthed, and many that are still yet to be re-discovered, hold many clues as to what many of our ‘primitive’ ancestors had accumulated for knowledge about this mysterious Earth. One thing that was a common finding; various charts, diagrams, written mythologies and legends (in very symbolic and numerologic language) tell the tales of these once existing cultures and nations’ possession of the knowledge of cycles and periodic events. Many of these legends and myths have turned out to have a lot of truth in them after all!

The Procession (and Precession) of Equinoxes being one of the most important markers of the various cycles and great “ages” come and gone. We look, for instance, into the various stories and legends in the Bible (because this is where I am most familiar with some of the specifics). The numerology and symbolism is very present throughout all of the Bible’s various “books”. Though most Catholics, Christians, and various derivative religions will vehemently refute and deny this truth, it becomes very obvious when these texts are compared very closely with the ancient religious texts of legends and myths from other, more ancient cultures. There is a common trend and understanding to be attained when one looks past the “literal interpretations” of the texts. The symbolism screams the message that so many “literal-ists” miss.

The Mayan and Aztec Calenders are also interesting sources for interesting information through the use of symbolism, numerology, and contexts in which they are to be understood. The three different calenders representing the three different cyclical measuring systems and sets of cycles. The main one being of the measurement of the Great Calender and how its cycles are an astonishing 64,000,000 ( 64 Million ) years in length, beginning to end! Guess what??? – So our Earth’s geologic “eras” are about 62.5 million to about 65 million years in duration! What an interesting coincidence: “Science proves, yet again, that the ancients were obviously knowledgeable about their world and the cycles of Nature – in excess of what we, today, know!”

Since my travels with the Dragon Spirit(s),

I have learned to look more closely at the patterns of Nature, and the bits of information to be found from many of the ancient cultures. Much of which can have serious consequences to those who choose to ignore. – In other words, “IGNORE THEM AT YOUR OWN PERIL!” I have had recurrent dreams and imagery that would seem very prophetic, except that these dreams have also showed me where to look and what questions to ponder while wandering this life. If I had the appropriate equipment, I would rather have done a serious video presentation for everyone so that they see the face of the messenger who brings these warnings to a still-sleepy world. I thank and forever hold debt to the Great Dragon for revealing to me the pattern that followed and the Path to higher understanding to be able to discern that which I have before me: ” Knowledge and clarity that has eluded so many. ” – The other Children of Dragons should already be awakened and becoming aware of what these great changes mean to all of us (all Kindreds and all Spirits).

Now, on to the warnings as given me this day.

We are towards the end of this Age. We are towards that point where endless darkness is about to spread its wings in every direction. This darkness, though not necessarily evil, just is as it is. It is the “pause” between the machinations of the Ages, much like that pause of silence between thoughts, the pause between breaths. We are about to experience a “pause” in between the Ages, but this pause will be much longer for us than many in the past. This because we are about to pause between two Great Ages, One of Fire, and the one of Ice. We have passed the current Age of Fire and are about to meet up with the next Age of Ice. We can see this happening now by looking at the quickening of the increases in ice masses at BOTH of the polar regions (even though, the various “agencies” and organizations say we are “warming” – all to convince the peoples to give up everything that belongs to them, including their basic rights). These increases in ice mass, yearly, have very quickly increased in frequency and in percentages. This means that much of the accumulating ice masses are far out-pacing the usual Summer melt-offs, are actually gaining mass much like a snowball gains mass as it is rolling down a snow covered hillside.

As the polar regions are actually growing, this means less water is being returned into the atmosphere (through evaporation, rain, and flowing streams and rivers) than is being taken up to form the increased mass of ice and snow. With less water being “re-flowed” back into the Natural system, this means less rainfall in certain areas of the world. If the Earth was warming, as the scare-mongers keep bleating, this melted-off ice would have returned into the Natural system aplenty, and we should not be seeing as many localized and regionalized droughts that we are seeing now! So, in essence, our various land-based bodies of water are being fed less and less by dwindling rainfall – because there is less water being made available FOR rainfall – because it is being “locked -up” in ice at the poles!

The Sun (or “Son” in some religious doctrines) also has a great effect upon the Earth’s and the neighboring planets’ ecosystems and general climates. The more solar activity our Sun experiences, the more solar energy our Earth is exposed to. The more solar flares and sunspots, the more actively our Earth’s weather changes to very placid and calm. The warmer that particular time period (several years) gets. If our Sun has a weaker solar-cycle (IE: fewer sunspots and flares), we see more clouds in our atmosphere and therefore, more storms. We also have a considerably cooler year or more, until the next great solar activity “bump”. This passing Solar Cycle has been an especially weak one in that there have been far fewer solar flares and sunspots than has been recorded for a long time! Our solar cycles have also progressively gotten longer in duration. Weaker Solar Cycles, and lengthier durations of these weaker cycles is quite telling! These make for cooler conditions that trend towards the formation of more ice and ice mass on the poles, and a gradual expansion of the polar areas in to regions that are now seeing shorter growing seasons and longer, harsher winters.

The last major “Ice Age” that lasted, perhaps a few centuries, followed along what became known the Maunder Minimum: That point where Solar activity is almost non-existent. This thought to be as if the Sun were simply “sleeping” for a time period, before beginning a new series of active Solar Cycles. The Hopi stories of the “Fifth Sun” speak clearly of this cycle and others like it. By their estimates, we may be facing a century-long Ice Age, as is cyclical on a 5,200-year boundary. I have not yet cross-referenced this with any of the Mayan Calender epochs, but will probably find something interesting nonetheless. The previous Major Ice Age covered virtually all of the Northern side of the American Continent as well as much of the Southern end of the American Continent. If we are to see another Ice Age to the likeness of that one, the only places that will have decent climate and weather during those years will probably be between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn (the Equatorial “band” as I know of it).

One other aspect that I have learned some years ago,

Imagine being an observer outside of our galaxy. Now notice that everything works in a cyclical, rotating habit. Our Moon circles the Earth, The Earth circles the Sun, Our Sun and its “Solar System” circles the galaxy. This is a grand picture of, “As Above, So Below. As Below, So Above.” Cycles in Nature come in all sizes and forms, large and small. Our Earth’s axis parallels the Sun’s axis. Our Sun’s axis also parallels the Galactic axis (of the center of the galaxy). However, none of these circles are perfectly round as we imagine them to be. They also are not totally planar, they “oscillate” like a Sine Wave which is the nature of cycles in general. Though these oscillations may not be as noticeable in our own solar system, but they are significantly larger deviations if we are thinking at the galactic level. This is because the galaxy is immensely larger than our “little solar system”. Our solar system is like a mere speck of dust in comparison to the grand size if the galaxy. Therefore, such oscillations and deviations are going to be proportionally larger in scale.

Another look at what our galaxy looks like. (We have a lot of galactic neighbors, and the wonders of the Hubble Space Telescope to help us see them!) We are likely to think of our galaxy as almost as flat (planar) as a dish or plate. The planar portion of the galaxy is where most of the orbiting “Suns” and other stars, with their attendant planets and planetary bodies orbiting them, are to be found orbiting the galactic center. Because there are far more such bodies in this area, it is thought that the galactic planar mass also has the strongest cumulative gravity interacting between each orbiting system. We notice certain strange things happening with our planet’s climate and weather patterns when we have a solar alignment of several planets and (and planetoids) parallel to one another in the form of an axis. So it makes the most sense to see this relationship of inter-gravitational effects (again, cumulative effects) at the galactic level too! (Nature seems to LOVE parallels!)

This could also explain why we have been seeing more “near-Earth” objects passing so close to us – “we” are getting closer to the other orbiting objects within the disc-shaped galactic planar mass.

Now, taking some of the various mythologies about a Red Serpent/Dragon being part of the onslaught of “destruction” in this world, brings me a greater curiosity. The star in question is Sirius “B”. It seems that it was recorded (in ancient texts?) that it periodically extends in Two directions from its mass (a Red Star), to form what appears to be a Great Serpent! To take away from these ancient myths and legends: This happens BEFORE the catastrophic events take place here on Earth. Therefore, is it that Sirius “B” is actually a “warning” to all of us that we are approaching that “danger zone” into the galactic planar mass where we are most likely to see a planetary-collision from loose objects (like asteroids, comets, and other huge chunks of “space-rock”)? I would tend to think so on the basis of the reading of these ancient mythologies. – It also happens to align with the 62.5-65 million-year cycles on Earth: The SAME kind of cycle known for Extinction-Level-Events ( “ELE’s” ). So HOW old is this present “Era”, the Cenozoic Era? – Almost 65 Million Years’ old! – Did the Mayans and/or their ancestors know something that we are still not yet seeing ??? Their Great Calender at its longest cycle was almost 65 Million years’ in length! We just thought about the Mayan Calender ending in late 2012. Were we correct on the time alignments with their Great Calender to ours? Maybe not.

Anyway, the image that came to me was one of a galactic origin. We may presently find our little Solar System about to be challenged whilst it begins its journey into the plane of the galaxy. Being that this is also much closer to other “neighboring” stars, systems, and wandering space rocks, we may find ourselves witnessing more near-Earth objects passing very closely by us. (This seems to be what is being deliberately under- or unreported by our various “space-watcher”-organizations! – All ostensibly to keep us all from worrying about it.) We also have the other specter to consider: The fact that most of our natural cloud-making actions come from particulates that originate from outside of our inner-space (Ionosphere, Stratosphere, etc.). If we are to be within the galactic plane, we are also much closer to a more dense source of tiny, cloud-friendly “dust particles”. So along with the weakening of our Sun’s Solar Cycles (IE: less energy being directed at Earth) as part of its “hibernation”, we have more contributing particulates towards more cloud cover around our world. – Therefore, with all of these natural, cyclical events about to come full circle, we stand a very good chance of seeing what the end of an “era”, in geological terms, looks like. Therefore, if it can be seen that our “Red Serpent” comes into existence (through a very good telescope – pointed towards Sirius “B”), our “messenger” has spoken. Times will indeed get very interesting for all inhabitants on Earth!

On The Path Of Dragon-Shamanism, Part I

By: Athauliz “Dragon’s Eye” Firestorm

Originally from December 21st, 2012

The Path of a Dragon-Shaman is a spiritual path that is not to be taken lightly. It is one of deep introspection and can often be unnerving and quite scary. It is a path that can know great joy or sorrow and pain. It is a path of finding the True Self that does not compromise from the Universal Truth, that is the Nature of the Divine and the Divine Nature.

Many who follow much of the New Age thinking or proclaim themselves to be “Neo-Pagans” ( IE: The modern “Pagan Community” ) often miss the vital clues about the spiritual reality, and that traveling such a spiritual path demands that they honestly look into themselves. They fail to see themselves for who and what they really are. To many, such experiences are scary and the truth becomes a horrifying sight to them. Dragon-Spirituality often demands our attention and our integrity in facing those things about ourselves in a true light. It is not a path for the insincere at heart.

“Gnothi sauton.” (“ Know thyself. “)

To give account of what it means to be Dragon, I would like to present a brief synopsis on some characteristics and aspects that define what is and is of the Dragon. First, a Dragon, as a spiritual being, knows itself from a deep, spiritual understanding. It knows that the base foundation of its great power begins with truly knowing its Self ( not from the egotistical perspective of “know itself”, which we would know of as narcissism ). It knows that its Spiritual Self is a creature of the Divine, and created in the total image of the Divine Creator. ( This encompasses the Mental, Emotional, the “Heart Spirit”, and the Ætheric planar bodies. ) The physical existence is not being considered right now because it has an ephemeral ( temporary ) nature ( a mortal existence – it will die ). Similarly, the Ego is mortal and knows that it will eventually die. The Dragon comes to know that it is not the Ego that defines the Being, but the spiritual with the emotional aspects that ultimately define the Being. This is what can be expressed as the “Universal Truth”.

“ Wisdom is Power, Knowledge is the tool of power. “

So now, we come to the heart of what the Dragon Symbolism means, in its deepest sense: Knowledge as the tool, and Wisdom as the means to best apply those “tools” with forethought and insight. I view the Dragon as the synthesis of Divine Awareness, and the Consciousness that knows no bounds nor limits. If you were to say “God” as the figurehead or symbolism of the most expansive and limitless of possibilities, I would say THAT equally applies to the aspect of the Dragon. Whether or not the imagery matches what we have been given ( which is often made up and probably quite inaccurate anyway ) through our histories, mythologies, legends, and lore, matters not when it comes to the ultimate realization that the Dragon is the essence of all things. It is more than just an “energy” or idea or thought, it is ALL thoughts, ideas, and encompasses ALL things, material, ætheric, spiritual, mental, and more.

To realize the Dragon-Consciousness, one must be ready to put away all prejudgments and preordained thinking about what Dragons and their mystique truly are. If one is already on a Shamanic Path, one is already on his way to self-realization and the opening of the Inner Eye(s) to ALL of the realities. This physical reality is only but one of the manifested realities to existence. It is often referred to as the “ordinary reality” or “mundane reality”. The other realities that one may encounter on his journey, are often referred to as “NON-ordinary realities”. They are the “extensions” of our Higher Selves, and the “parallel planes” of our state of Being. Once one comes to the realization of these other non-ordinary realities, he begins to truly grasp the depth, width, and limitlessness of the Creation(s) and existence, in general. This “expansion of consciousness” can be very startling and even very scary to the new traveler. This is one of the best reasons to have a guide before the neophytes sets out on a journey of the Mind.

“ The Dragon and the Serpent, are they the same? “

The modality that is probably the least understood, is the Serpent, in all its glory. To many, the Dragon and the Serpent ( as in “The Great Serpent”, or even “Kundalini” from Buddhist and Hindu traditions ) are considered one and the same. This is very close to as accurate as one can get. However, The Serpent represents the “flow” of energies, and the “cycles” that are ever-moving, ever-flowing. The Serpent knows that energy, cycles, etc. must always be moving, and must always be flowing, just as moving water does more work and has great er effect than stagnant water. The Hermetic Teachings also state, from the Seven Hermetic Principles, that “everything is in motion. Nothing remains still.” In order for the Creation(s) to exist, its/their energies ( from the very make-up of their Being, etc. ) that must continue to move, vibrate, cycle, flow, etc., else, the Creation and all manifested things can not Be! Just as stagnating water begins to fester and spoil, so does energy if it is confined and not allowed to flow freely. Stagnating energies become the “disease” within Being. If one’s heart were to cease beating, then he would very quickly die. The same goes for the Serpentine Energies that manifest throughout the Creation and all existence. The Serpent knows this, because the Serpent is present in every form or fashion of the flowing energies, because it IS the flow of those energies!

The “Dragon”, as an archetype, and an idea, is central to many of the ancient spiritual beliefs. The Serpent is also recognized be many of early man’s contemporaries even to this day by surviving belief-systems of today. Whereas, the Serpent has been recognized as the “flow” and the “cycles” in action, the Dragon would be considered the “presence”, or “state of I AM” – in other-words, the present moment. The Dragon-Consciousness is the total awareness of the “here and now” as expressed by its own state-of-Being. Its reality is primarily focused on the “here and now”, but not limited to it, but rather fully aware of the ideas of “past” and “future” are but reflections and reverberations of the now. At this level of conscious, there is no “past”, and there is no “future”, because they are the same as the “here and now” though expressed as reflections of it. It is in this state of Being that “time”, “space”, and “dimension” are meaningless and immaterial. They simply have no concept in this level of existence, just as the spacing between atoms and molecules is meaningless to most of us. A fish may have its own realizations, when it finally surfaces to see the world beyond what it knows, for it only knew beforehand, its own “familiar” existence in the water. The fish had no concept of what realities lay beyond its own level of existence. The Dragon sees things in all possibilities, and all reflections, because it is BEYOND the level of existence we, ourselves, were aware of. So, those first “footsteps” into one or more of the “non-ordinary realities” often become very frightening to the novice traveler. Such fears are common, and rational at first. The Dragon’s “vision” can be our helping hand in those times of need.

“ How is Dragon-Shamanism and traditional Shamanism any different? “

“Traditional Shamanism” mainly works with the Earth’s energies and Earth Spirits. Much of it ( though not all traditions ) is very Geo-Centric, in that it deals more with the expression of Nature’s Powers here on Earth. The “Traditional” aspect is very hard to nail down because there are many differing traditions depending where in the world, and which culture you meet, when referring to a specific tradition. The Siberian Tuvan’s traditions in Shamanism may differ greatly from African or Australian Aboriginal traditions. The famed Voodoo and/or Hoodoo differ in some respects from Santeria, Stregheria, etc., but they are still forms and traditions of Shamanism. Most traditions of Witchcraft, both the old and the new forms, incorporate much of Shamanism, often from many different “traditions”, to define their own traditions. They are still incorporating Shamanism into their practices. Dragon-Shamanism is not so different here in that it also incorporates methods, rituals and rites, and other aspects from different traditions. This is not where I define any difference with other expressions and traditions of Shamanism.

As previously mentioned, most commonly-associated traditions of Shamanism are very Geo-centric, or Earth-centered spirituality. They define their practices and traditions based on their work with Earth-Energies and their associated Spirit-Guides, Totems, etc. ( most of which we may recognize as “animal-spirits” ). Dragon-Shamanism, on the other hand, is not limited, by any means, to Earth-centric thinking and spirituality. It is very much all-inclusive, and centers its course of spirituality and thinking to the depths of the whole Cosmos, and everything within AND without. It is expressive of what some may call “Astro-Shamanism”. The story, “Pharmacratic Inquisition”, is a great place to begin one’s studies into the realm of Astro-Shamanism. I highly recommend it for all who are seriously interested in beginning a voyage of this likeness! Anyway, the Dragon figures very prominently into Astro-Shamanism because it is in the “Heavens” where we are first introduced to the Dragon as a super-archetype. In the very center of our twelve Zodiac signs, lies the “Crooked Serpent” ( as some fundamentalists disparage him as ) or as some may call it “Theli” ( from the Kabbalah ), Leviathan ( from Semitic legend and biblical texts ), and its official name: “Draco”. It is from these perspectives that we were introduced to the “Celestial Dragon”, or Serpent ( like the Norse: “Midgardsormr” ) which become a major part of much of our ancient spiritual beliefs and religions. So, our spiritual journey could start there as so many before us did.

“ The Dragon and the Serpent as the most recognized symbol to mankind. “

Of all the great mythological creatures to ever appear in much of early man’s writings, stelae, and his mythologies, the Dragon has the most enduring and everlasting place in man’s day-to-day life and in his preoccupations. The Dragon is recognized across the world in virtually all cultures, in one form or another. The Dragon is easily one of the oldest archetypes and spiritually-significant symbol throughout human history. Some cultures pay the dearest respect and reverence to the Dragon(s) as the early Chinese, Japanese, and other Orient cultures did. Other cultures fear and even “hate” the Dragon as a harbinger of doom and destruction, which is most common with the Western cultures. Whether for good, or for ill, the Dragon is a solid, recognized feature of man’s cultural and spiritual ethic that dates far back to virtually unrecorded history. It is a lasting symbol and very recognizable to most parts of the world.

The times of today are beginning to see a change in perspectives towards spirituality and life in general. Many of the dated stereotypes that were propagated by the establishment churches and their doctrines, are showing signs of wear and deterioration in their credibility. This is largely because they often do not answer, to the seekers’ satisfaction, the unanswered questions of life, or – their explanations, often handed off as “answers”, are limited in scope and understanding. Many of the present-day dogmas are beginning to lose their luster and nuances as people are craving more genuine answers from the personal, actual experiences of those questioned. A priesthood that for so long was vaunted to be the “pillars of societal values and morals” by “men of the cloth”, are starting to fissure and crumble in the wake of this awakening and “quest” of those who seek the greater truths. These “churches”, and the systems of governance they have built up, have relied so heavily on the followership not asking these types of questions and demanding real answers. Under such an inflexible administration, the systems built upon the people’s ignorance and unfailing devotion to dogma is beginning to feel the stresses of the changing times, and of the changing hearts and minds of the people. Such systems are destined to be relegated to the scrap heap of “past history”.

One of the main reasons why today’s expression of “Paganism” has gained such an increasing following, is that they offer the promise of a “new way”. That is, a new way of thinking, a new way of believing, and a new way of seeing the world. This nuance of “forbidden knowledge” has a certain attractive quality that draws people from all walks of life away from the establish churches, and into their circles and covens. This expresses that there is a dire need for fresh answers, often lacking from the predominant doctrines, in today’s world.

“ The Dragon also represents change. “

Many of the churches of today are decrying, now ever louder, the shrinking of their membership and attendance due to “Satanic” or “Luciferian” influences ( their claims, not mine ). The real question, then, is why is this? Why do these churches who have held sway over the Western cultures for many centuries, only now fear that their fate are sealed? Some believe the internet and its wide open forum for discussion and debate are largely to blame. Healthy debate and access to the most unbiased information as possible usually will spell the end of the grip of systems of control. Political control of the world’s peoples is also challenged by a free and open internet. This could be characterized as the “rising of the Dragon”, by means of the social changes taking place. This is fitting for a description of only one of the aspects of the Dragon, “Change”.

When one begins his tour of the realm of Dragons, the deeper he goes, the more he must be willing to change, or bend to adapt with the changes. The ancient Dragon mythologies held that the Dragon was one could instigate changes, whether the slow and steady kind, or of the catastrophic kind, changes were often associated with a “Dragonic element” or power. Some of the early texts on Dragons give the impression that the Dragon represented “Chaos”; The uncontrolled or uncontrollable forces of Nature. This gave rise to many legends where the Dragon was either a participant in or the lead cause of storms, tidal waves and tsunamis, and probably droughts and sandstorms. The Egyptian Apophis ( or “Apep” ) was considered the reason for the darkening of the Sun and Moon, and was supposedly sent by Seth, the dark God of destruction, confusion, and chaos. The Babylonian Azhi Dahaka ( or “Azhi Dahaki” ) was considered the beast, sent by Ahriman, who makes the winters colder and the summers hotter and drier. The Ancient Greek monster, Typhon, was said to cause the storms at sea ( as to a possible reason how Typhoons get their names ). In the Americas ( namely the Southern Pacific Islands ), Huracan was viewed as a storm-causing creature ( probably Dragon-like ), possibly the reason we have called these storms “Hurricanes”. In each of these examples, it is illustrated that change can often be preceded by one or more destructive acts.

The same way we, ourselves, may need to remove obstacles in our own lives, this may be necessitated by change. The Dragon, as a symbol, is very fitting as the symbol for changes, even if through what seems like a destructive act ( but not truly destructive in this sense ). There is the symbolism, also of the Serpent, of cycles in action. The cycles being that of: birth, growth, life, and then death – before a “rebirth” is possible. The Dragon and the Serpent were recognized as important symbols in the early cultures when considering their relationships to the powers of Nature. Nature is very creative, and equally destructive in its tendencies. This creation-destruction cycle is necessary as it follows the “cycles” in accordance to the Natural Laws.

A Dance with The Ancient Serpent

While many of the “fundamentalists” preach fear and loathing of the “Serpent” to their masses of followers, they miss the very important knowledge about self-awareness and the state of Being: “We are all Creatures of Energy and the Energy of Spiritual Consciousness.” Our “root of power” is not to be found purely in the physical body, but within the Mind of Being.

The Root of one’s own Power is based on the idea that this power is beyond the physical, and beyond the temporal (time). So it can be understood that it is beyond “space and time”. The Serpent represents the beginnings and endings of all things ephemeral (temporary). Space and Time represent that which has been defined, that which is temporary. The Spiritual Power (or “Divine Power”) knows no such limits because it is beyond space and time. Therefore, it is beyond mere definition and form – i.e. – “limitless”.

The Serpent is a pathway, a flow, a course by which all things flow into cycle. The circle, the Moebius, the Ouroboros – signifying the eternal flowing of space and time, without beginning, without ending. That which has no beginning, has no ending – it always is, as it always was, it just IS.

Now, imagine TWO Serpents, both of opposite qualities, both of opposite strengths, both going in opposite directions. They represent the cause and the effect. One begets the other, one can not know itself without the other.

Now imagine those two serpents intertwined, the dance of the Cosmos, the dance of eternity. As night flows into day, so shall day flow into night. Now if those serpents, bound together, were to fashion a circle – heads and tails conjoined – where one flows in one direction, the other flows in the opposite direction – you would have the representation of the two opposite cycles that manifest the beginnings and endings of all things ephemeral. The eternal part is the cycle itself. The constant flow of energies are ever-flowing.

Now, imagine yourself in the center of this ever-flowing circle of birth, life, death, and rebirth. You can feel the flow that is moving to one direction, and then the energies that are flowing in the opposite direction. In this place, you could even feel the alternating tides, waxing and waning, this being the “rhythm” of the Universe, Its “heartbeat”, if you will. This is the Great Heartbeat that is also the sound of music. It is the beat of the energetic flow of all of the universal – and trans-universal – energies. The thoughts, dreams, desires, and emotions all originate and die here – to be resurfaced into the new beginnings that may become.

While you are feeling the rhythm of the flowing energies, of light, of darkness, of the plus, and the minus, what is one to feel within his/her own being? Is it also as your own beat? All things have rhythm, all things have vibration. Nothing remains still and motionless. The two serpents dance the beat of eternity, and so do we. As things in motion, forever, so goes the cycle of all things – from birth – to life – to death – to rebirth, all things are part of the “cycle”, which is forever. This is why there is no such things as “eternal Life” – or – “everlasting life”. Life and Death are as brother and sister, they dance the “dance” of eternity together. One can not know itself without the existence of the other. They BOTH must BE, or not at all.

It is more like when WE become more like the energies, we become the eternal, without the need of life, and without the need of death – for we become AS the cycle of eternity. We then escape the cycle of Birth and Death. We BECOME the cycle, Master of our destiny. When we dance with the Serpent, we dance the Cosmic Dance, eternal, without beginning, and without ending. We BECOME, as we were destined to BE!
